Bobby Marshall (second row, left) integrated the 1900 Minneapolis Central High School baseball team and then broke the color line on the University of Minnesota baseball nine. Marshall (1880–1958) played first base for the St. Paul Colored Gophers and other teams, and the multi-sports star became the first black player in the National Football League (1920).
