The next meeting of the Chicago (Emil Rothe) SABR Chapter will be held Saturday March 24, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Chicago Public Library’s Austin-Irving Branch (6100 W. Irving Park Road). The Library’s web page is here: http://www.chipublib.org/locations/7/
The program for the meeting will include the following:
- Baseball columnist and friend of SABR Phil Rogers will discuss the coming season and look ahead to what’s in store for the Cubs and White Sox.
- Chapter member and award winning presenter Bruce Allardice will discuss "Baseball in the Wild West" in which he will show how baseball and the Wild West developed together. The story of western baseball touches General Custer, Wild Bill Hickox, Bat Masterson and countless other Wild West legends.
If you are available before the meeting, members will be getting together for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Burgundy Restaurant at 5959 W. Irving Park Road (southeast corner of Austin and Irving and a block east of the library). Look for members (most likely wearing baseball caps) in the back section behind the cashier where there are some larger tables.
