Baseball Americana at the Library of Congress October 2-3
The Library of Congress is holding a symposium entitled "Baseball Americana." It will be a unique celebration of our national pastime, held at the nation's oldest federal cultural institution. The Library's baseball collections are the largest in the world. This has led to the creation of a beautifully illustrated book, Baseball Americana: Treasures from the Library of Congress, to be published by Harper Collins on September 29, 2009.

In addition, the Library's American Folklife Center has recently acquired a collection of one-of-a-kind oral history interviews with former professional players and managers, organized and conducted by former commissioner of Major League Baseball, Fay Vincent. http://www.loc.gov/folklife/Symposia/Baseball/

Those interested in attending the Friday evening and/or Saturday events should register early. The Friday afternoon events don't require registration. Registration and detail are available online.
