Applications for the 2010 grant cycle of the Yoseloff-SABR Baseball Research Grant Program are now being accepted. Members of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) may apply for a grant of up to $1,000 to reimburse expenses incurred while conducting an independent baseball research project. Over the past five years, the program has awarded nearly $44,000 to 29 individuals for a total of 32 grant projects.

Any aspect of the history of baseball is acceptable for funding from the program. A grant may be used to support research conducted by graduate students for their theses or dissertations or any other paper that is a prerequisite for an advanced degree, but not for term papers. It may also be used to support research on books and articles.

The final product of the proposed research will be published by SABR, although copyright will remain with the author. For clarification, publication does not necessarily mean print publication. The final work product may be something that SABR can publish on its web site in electronic format, such as an article, a database, or other media product.

More detailed information is included in the Yoseloff-SABR grant application, which is available here.

SABR (pronounced “Saber”) is an international organization headquartered in Cleveland, OH. The Society's mission is to foster the study of baseball, to assist in developing and maintaining the history of the game, to facilitate the dissemination of baseball research and to stimulate interest in baseball.
