The Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) has established Baseball Think Factory (BTF) as its first Chartered Community, a new designation of SABR membership that recognizes the impact of the Internet and other technologies on the way in which SABR members interact. SABR’s board approved the measure creating Chartered Communities during its quarterly meeting November 13-14.
The creation of Chartered Communities came out of the suggestion for a “virtual” SABR chapter made by BTF members Chris Dial, Mike McCullough, and Paul Brewer at SABR’s 2009 national convention in Washington, DC. According to the motion passed by the SABR Board of Directors, Chartered Communities may be established upon petition by 15 members in good standing to the executive director. SABR is pleased to welcome Baseball Think Factory as its first Charted Community.
SABR (pronounced “Saber”) is an international organization headquartered in Cleveland, OH. The Society's mission is to foster the study of baseball, to assist in developing and maintaining the history of the game, to facilitate the dissemination of baseball research and to stimulate interest in baseball.
