Metropolitan Stadium, Bloomington, 1956

The Minneapolis Millers opened the new stadium in Bloomington (soon to be known as Metropolitan Stadium) against the Wichita Braves on April 24, 1956. Wichita won 5–3 in a game in which the Millers manager was ejected after drop-kicking his hat in the fifth inning when plate umpire Bob Phillips overturned his original decision three times on a steal of home by the Braves’ Joe Koppe.
