In Memoriam: Fred Schuld

We are sad to note the passing of SABR member Fred Schuld, 87, of Macedonia, Ohio. He was a SABR member since 1984, a lifelong Cleveland Indians fan who claimed his only expertise was Jack Graney's Larry, bull terrier mascot of the team from 1912 to 1917. He wrote biographies on Pat Seerey and Charles Somers for the SABR BioProject, and was a volunteer for many years at SABR's former office in Cleveland.

Fred Norman Schuld Jr., born April 9, 1926, was the beloved husband of Doris (nee Smith); loving father of Col. Rodger Schuld, USAF (Ruth), Karl Schuld (Cindy), and the late Theodore Schuld; dear grandfather of Tyler (Fiancee Mindy Arlen), Jackie, Laura, Kyle, Brandon, Hallie, and Leah; brother of the late Gloria Faehnrich; brother-in-law of Gene Faehnrich.

Schuld served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He taught history at Independence High School for 32 years and was the "Voice of the Blue Devils" for 28 years. He belonged to the Bedford Church of the Open Bible and was a member of the Cuyahoga Valley Civil War Round Table.
