Wieczorkiewicz: New Marlins manager Mike Redmond has Midwest League roots

From SABR member Craig Wieczorkiewicz at Midwest League Traveler on November 1, 2012:

Redmond was manager of the Lansing Lugnuts in 2011, when he was named Midwest League Manager of the Year and led the Lugnuts to the Midwest League Championship Series. His Midwest League roots also include playing with the Kane County Cougars in 1993 and 1994. He batted .254 in 135 games with the Cougars.

Even back when Redmond played with the Cougars (his first professional baseball team), he had a reputation for being a smart player and was already considered a potential future coach.
