One of the initial SABR Research Committees founded in 1971, the Biographical Research Committee encourages biographical research of players, managers and officials associated with game.
The committee collects birth and death data, as well as other vital statistics, on the more than 14,000 players and managers to appear in the major leagues since 1871. The committee provided more than 7,000 corrections to the 1988 edition of The Baseball Encyclopedia, and also supplies data to The Sports Encyclopedia: Baseball and Total Baseball.
The monthly committee newsletter features a "Find of the Month," as well as the "Mystery of the Month."
