The back of card number 287 in the set reads, "Jim Blackburn Pitcher - Cincinnati Reds Born: Warsaw, Ky., June 19, 1924 Height: 6-3 Weight: 175 Bats: Right Throws: Right On the comeback trail after being forced to quit by a sore arm in 1949. Entered the service in 1943. Served with the Army's Seventh Armored Division which fought through France, Begium, Holland and into Germany. Taken prisoner. Liberated by the 69th Division. Back in baseball in 1946. Won 10, lost 8, for Columbia. With Tulsa in 1950. Won 21, lost 7. Had an earned run average of 2.74. No. 287 in the 1951 series Baseball Picture Cards Reprint 1986 C.C.C."
