Henry Aaron Swings to Hit His 708th Home Run – Photocopy

Description

A photocopy of a black-and-white, full-length photograph of Henry Aaron in position to hit his 708th home run at San Diego Stadium, San Diego, Calif., on Sept. 3, 1973. Aaron is wearing an Atlanta Braves road uniform with his jersey number 44 partially visible. He is in the right-handed batter's box, seen from the first base side. He has both hands on the bat and is holding it back past his right shoulder as he begins to swing. He is looking straight ahead to watch the approaching ball (which is not visible in the photo). His legs are in an active stance, the left leg forward of the right. The squatting catcher's right profile is seen, with his left glove outstretched to receive the ball. Game records indicate the catcher is Fred Kendall. A portion of the home plate umpire's head and right shoulder is also visible. Game records indicate the home plate umpire is Bill Williams. The background is somewhat blurry; it shows several Braves team members in their dugout. Writing on the photocopy reads, "#708"
