Clinton High School SABR Chapter sponsors 4th annual ALS fundraiser
Clinton, NY – The 4th annual ALS fundraiser sponsored by the Clinton High School SABR Chapter on Sat., April 2, 2005 earned $449.00 for research for Lou Gehrig’s disease. This event honors the memory of Jean Kloster who lost a courageous battle to ALS twelve years ago.
The program began with a presentation by Mr. Jeff Idelson, Vice President of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Mr. Idelson chronicled the life of Lou Gehrig. he detailed the spectacular career of the Iron Horse and explained why Gehrig ranks as one of baseball’s all-time greats.

He also showed photos of Gehrig’s mementos which are on display at the Hall of Fame.
The annual fund raising auction included items donated by the Hall of Fame, The Strike Zone Baseball Card Shop and the USA Olympic Baseball team. The featured item was a replica “Lou Gehrig” first baseman which was originally manufactured in Utica by the Ken-Wel, Co. Mr. Joe Gilligan of Academa Professional Company donated the “Lou Gehrig” mitt.
Following the auction, “Pride of the Yankees”, starring Gary Cooper was shown in the new auditorium.
