Robert E. Bionaz hails from California and is a lifelong fan of the San Francisco Giants. He spent 22-plus years in law enforcement before returning to school, ultimately earning a Ph.D. at the University of Iowa. He is currently an Associate Professor of History at Chicago State University. His research interests revolve around working-class politics and culture during the U.S. Progressive Era, sport (particularly baseball) and culture in the United States, and the e ects of political corruption on higher education in Chicago. He has authored a number of articles on working-class politics, and a variety of baseball-themed topics. He is currently working on a manuscript about political corruption and university governance at Chicago State University.
