Kenneth Fricke

Kenneth Fricke has been a member of SABR since 2000 and is a member of the East Tennessee Chapter. He was born in Venezuela and spent his formative years growing up around the oil fields of Venezuela and in Caracas. Baseball was – and still is – a hot topic around his Venezuela relatives. He holds a master’s in civil engineering from Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland) and a PhD in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville). He spent 45 years working as a structural engineer in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, retiring at the end of 2021, but resumed part-time in late 2022. He grew up a lifelong Yankees fan, but due to circumstances, he attended many more Cleveland games than Yankees games, so has a warm spot for Cleveland sports teams. He was in the stands for the infamous Ten-Cent Beer night in 1974 but made up for it by being present for Frank Robinson’s first managerial game in 1975. He follows the Venezuelan Winter Leagues and always roots for Venezuela in the WBC. His SABR interests include baseball history, statistics, and statistical analysis. He has also spent many years volunteering to improve the playability of Strat-O-Matic’s computerized baseball seasons. He lives in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, with his wife, Maureen, and three cats.
