Buck O’Neil/North Florida Chapter meeting recap – 10/1/2025
Sixteen members and guests of the Buck O’Neil/North Florida SABR chapter gathered in the private room at Casa Grande Margaritas & Cocina Midtown Tallahassee for the chapter’s monthly meeting on October 1, 2025. Those in attendance included:

Matt Keelean, pinch hitting for Matt Hudson, called the meeting to order and asked Jeff English to make his presentation on Jeff’s favorite player, Dave Kingman. Jeff has a world class collection of Kingman memorabilia which he shared with those in attendance. Jeff is also very knowledgeable about Kingman’s career and life off the field both before and after his retirement. Audience members struggled to answer Kingman trivia questions. The presentation was impressive and well-received.
Our next topic was recent live baseball experiences of those attending the meeting. Nick enjoyed a AAA Iowa Cubs game in Des Moines. Jeff had a memorable time at the minor league game that was an option during the SABR conference in Dallas.
Then it was Trivia Tune Up (for the upcoming contest) moderated by Matt. The questions, based on performances and statistics from the just-completed MLB season, we found to be tough but not all were unsolvable.
After further discussion of the state of the game, especially the introduction of ABS next year, the meeting adjourned at 8 o’clock PM Eastern Daylight Time
