Seymour-Mills Chapter meeting recap – 11/29/2018
From James Kellerman at the Naples Daily News on November 30, 2018:
Former Major League Baseball players discussed life in the big leagues at the Collier County Public Library for the Society for American Baseball Research on Thursday.
The panel was made up of former pitchers and current Naples residents Don Carman, Chris Resop and Carmen Cali, who talked about their greatest influences in the game, favorite stadiums, managers and teammates, major league debuts and the greatest players they played with or against.
The night was filled with laughs for baseball fanatics as the panelists told stories of their past, but the three became most opinionated when asked about how the game has changed and how the rules of the game have changed.
Mel Poplock, chair of the Seymour-Mills Chapter of SABR in Naples, asked the panel about the use of the designated hitter, Carman grabbed the microphone and said, “I definitely have an opinion on that.”
