Ted Williams Chapter meeting recap – 7/25/2015

From SABR member Kristin Johnson at the Roxx Foxx Sports Blog on August 3, 2015:

Back in January I went to the annual “SABR DAY” at the  Sullivan Family Research Center at the SD Central Library. I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to be a member. However I had to wait to sign up because my budget was tight then. When I got my tax return in late April, then I signed up to be a SABR member.

On July 25th the San Diego/Ted Williams Chapter of SABR had their summer meeting at the SD Central Library. It is It was adventure trying to get there because the meeting was at 10:15 am. The library was not open until 12 noon. I snuck in threw the parking garage and waited for SABR staff to let me in and they did.

There were 3 guest panelists. The first was Wayne Towers who explained the history of closers and saves.  The second was Rebecca Herman. She wrote a book about leadership among baseball managers. The third was Marlins radio announcer Glenn Geffner. He worked for the Padres in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Geffner talked about the state of Marlins baseball and baseball in Miami in general.

Here are the pics! Enjoy!
