Austin: Somerset writer Doug Chapman pens chapter in new SABR Braves Field book

Doug Chapman was an award-winning sportswriter with the Providence Journal for many years, as the founder of the Somerset High School Athletic Hall of Fame and a member of the Society of American Baseball Research is a sports historian, is a graduate of Boston University and his second favorite baseball team is the Boston Braves.
All of those factors must have helped Chapman in writing a chapter of the new book called “Braves Field: Memorable Moments at Boston’s Lost Diamond.”
Chapman, a Somerset resident who is also the coach of the Somerset Berkley Regional High School boys’ tennis team, wrote a chapter about the stadium’s transition from Braves Field to Nickerson Field at Boston University and about all kinds of sporting events that happened there other than baseball.
