Brown: 1886 uniform updates to Threads of Our Game

From SABR member Craig Brown at Threads of Our Game on June 28, 2015:

Today there are a few new uniform renderings posted to Threads—a few classics from the year of 1886. See links below if you have a moment to spare.

1886 Boston NL – opening day in New York

—was there a white home uniform too? Looking for a record of this.
—also if you have player IDs for the Boston team in the opening day photo, please share.

1886 Chicago NL

—knowing how much Chicago liked to experiment with uniform styles and colors, I’m sure there was second uni from 1886—-know of one?

1886 Detroit NL

—so far, there is no documentation for the lettering color on these uniforms. Have a record of this to share? I know of one person who is dying to know

1886 New York NL

—simply a beautiful uniform, don’t you think? Was there a road version as well?

Also I wanted to point out that I have utilized a new figure on all 4 of these Threads renderings for 1886. I felt the “pioneer” figure was getting obsolete for the mid-1880s—the bat was too long and the pose too nerdy. So I’ve updated it and will use this new figure thru to 1900. Also, I have drawn the new figure with one hand on hip—-as one small homage to Okkonen.

Send any feedback, corrections, or new information. Thanks for your time.
