Dennis Corcoran chronicles the history and spectacle that has become the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum‘s annual celebration in “Induction Day at Cooperstown: A History of the Baseball Hall of Fame Ceremony.”

The retired teacher-turned-author recently spoke at the Weston Branch Library. He worked out of the same library during the final stages of the book before it was sent to his publisher, McFarland & Co.

Starting in 2004, Corcoran spent six years interviewing fans and Hall of Famers who have made the annual jaunt to Cooperstown, N.Y.

“The theme is baseball, and the theme is the Hall of Fame, but I trace how it has grown to being such a big happening now,” he said. “There are the controversies of who should be in the Hall of Fame. … There is the whole process, the path to election. There are always questions being asked. I try to cover everything.”
