Foster: 1990s Braves won a lot, but should have won more

The familiar refrain about the 1990s Braves teams is that, despite eight straight postseason berths and five pennants in the decade, they only captured one World Series championship.

For many fans and observers, it seems to defy odds that a team that spent much of the decade with three Hall of Fame starters, a Hall of Fame manager, and a future Hall of Fame third baseman could underachieve so consistently.

It’s been 20 years since the Braves finally got over the hump to win the 1995 World Series, but a review of their ’90s postseason losses provides plenty of evidence that the team let multiple championships slip away.
