Gupta: Legendary Mary Pratt, an irreplaceable void in history

I had the honor and joy of knowing, as a dear friend and mentor, Mary Pratt, of Quincy, who played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.
We first met by phone. Then one day, she stopped by my home so we could meet in person. Then in her 90s, she was on her way to the gym, driving herself there. I was in awe of her spirit.
As a SHERO to women and girls everywhere, I feel so blessed to have had the chance to help Mary celebrate her 100th birthday in special ways. I petitioned legislators and others, and among the ways I helped get Mary recognized were:
