Luke Easter Chapter: Hot Stove Talks (Rochester, NY)

SABR's Luke Easter Chapter will host its upcoming Baseball Talks Series will be taking place from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Irondequoit Public Library, 1290 Titus Ave, Rochester, NY 14617. All baseball fans are welcome to attend this free event; RSVPs are not required.

Our four speakers will be giving 20-minute talks on a variety of baseball topics sure to appeal to baseball fans. The lineup will be: 

1:00-1:25 p.m.: Jeff and Makayla Klein: "They Stepped Up to the Plate - Honoring the Unsung Heroes of the Negro Leagues"
The father/daughter team has grown a biennial event celebrating the Negro Leagues and the surviving players. They will share how an interest in learning more about civil rights has helped ensure that these players' legacies live on. 
1:25-1:50 p.m.: St John Fisher Diamond Dollar Case Competition Team
SABR annually sponsors a Diamond Dollars Case Competition between college teams at its Analytics Conference in Phoenix, challenging students to solve a baseball operations problem. The sports management program at St John Fisher has sponsored a team for the last several years and they will be reprising their presentation from the 2018 competition. Topic has not been released yet. 
2:00-2:25 p.m.: Paul Bielewicz: "Red Wings' Uniform History"
RBHS board member Paul Bielewicz will provide a survey of Red Wings uniforms of the past and present; discussing different design aspects and their evolution. 
2:25-2:50 p.m.: Mark Sommer: "Rocky Colavito"
Buffalo News reporter Mark Sommer has a book being published in 2019 by McFarland & Co. on the career and legacy of slugging outfielder Rocky Colavito. A Cleveland Indians legend, Colavito played in nine All-Star Games during his 13-year career. He retired 50 years ago with the third most home runs for a right-handed batter in American League History.
