McCaffrey: What did Alex Cora do as a rookie manager to bring so much out of Red Sox?

Alex​ Cora’s debut​ season as a manager was better than​ almost​ anyone else in​ the history​ of the game.

He​ won​ 108​​ games. Only Ralph Houk in 1961 with the Yankees had a better first year at the helm with 109 wins. No Red Sox manager had ever won so many games.

Aside from J.D. Martinez, who nearly won the Triple Crown and deserves significant credit for Boston’s success this season, adding Cora was the most significant change the Sox made last offseason to a club that the previous two seasons finished with 93 wins.

So what did Cora do to bring more out of this team?
