SABR 52 convention logoOn Sunday, August 11, 2024, attendees at SABR 52 have the opportunity to watch a game of Minnesota town ball in Cologne, which is hosting the Region 7C qualifying tournament at Fritz Field. The ballpark is located off US Highway 212, just 35 miles from the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Minneapolis.

Your game ticket plus roundtrip bus transportation is $40. The SABR bus will depart the Hyatt Regency hotel at 9:45 a.m. and return to the hotel at approximately 3:30 p.m. Please note: This optional event is limited to 30 attendees, so make sure to register early!

The Minnesota Baseball Association’s state-wide amateur tournament, held each year since 1924, is a uniquely Minnesota tradition. More than 270 towns around the state field a team every summer and compete for the state championship. Town ball alumni include former major leaguers Terry Steinbach and Jim Eisenreich.

The Cologne ballpark concession stand includes the self-proclaimed best cheese curds and hamburgers in Minnesota.
