SABR Member Benefit Spotlight: Joining Groups

AUGUST 30, 2021 — As a SABR member, you have vast resources and benefits at your disposal. With so much information at your fingertips, we realize it can be overwhelming to absorb it all! To highlight key benefits, read on for this month’s SABR Member Benefit Spotlight, a new email series that identifies and explains some of the most valuable features of your membership. We hope this allows you to take full advantage of all SABR has to offer.

This issue shows you how to join additional chapters, research committees, and chartered community groups. While your primary chapter may be the one closest to you geographically, all members are eligible to join any SABR group that interests you!

JOINING GROUPS

SABR chaptersChapters

When you signed up for SABR, you were asked to join a primary chapter. For most members, that primary chapter is the regional group closest to your physical location. Did you know you also have the option to join any other SABR chapter and receive updates? With more than 80 chapters worldwide, SABR chapters reach every corner of the baseball world.

You can join any SABR chapter to receive email newsletters, stay updated on upcoming events (both virtual and in-person), and connect with other like-minded members. View a listing of all SABR chapters here.

Research Committees

From the Deadball Era to the Negro Leagues to Statistical Analysis to Women in Baseball, SABR’s renowned research committees are devoted to the study of an incredibly vast array of baseball topics. With more than 30 research committees to explore, sign up for newsletters, learn more about your favorite parts of the game, or get involved with an upcoming research project. View a list of SABR Research Committees here.

Chartered Communities

SABR’s Chartered Communities are online virtual groups centered around a common theme. If you’re a baseball trivia buff, there’s the SABR Trivia group. If you’re a sabermetrically oriented enthusiast, the Baseball Think Factory features daily news stories with original content from baseball writers and fellow SABR members. These groups are a great way for members with similar interests to connect. Check out the full list of our Chartered Communities here.
