SABR Rocky Mountain Chapter launches new Baseball Memories program in Denver
SABR’s Rocky Mountain Chapter launched its Baseball Memories program with a meeting on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Vi at Highlands Ranch, a senior living community in suburban Denver.
This was the first event as part of SABR’s new partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association. The organizations will provide Alzheimer’s information and resources to people living with the disease and their caregivers through baseball-centric sessions, jointly planned and conducted by the Alzheimer’s Association and SABR.
Former Colorado Rockies outfielder Cory Sullivan spoke to the group of about 30 residents about his baseball career and the Rockies gave away memorabilia. The event was open to all residents of Vi at Highlands Ranch.
Rebecca Engle, Director of the Denver Alzheimer’s Association, and Dave Mundo of the Rocky Mountain Chapter co-hosted the event and facilitated a Q&A session with Sullivan.
The SABR Baseball Memories program now includes chapters in seven areas: Austin, Cleveland, Denver, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego, Westchester (New York).
