In Herm Krabbenhoft’s recent SABR 33 research presentation, Teddy Ballgame’s On Base Performances in Consecutive Games.  Does Ted Williams hold that important ML record too?, he also looked at Williams’ career stats for consecutive games without reaching base safely.

Here were some of his results:

[A] Excluding games in which he was utilized as a pinch hitter, there were
only 8 instances where he failed to reach base safely (i.e., via hit, a walk, or
being hit by a pitch) in consecutive games —

3 consecutive games
(1) 1939, May 23, 24, 25 — 0-for-4 in each game

2 consecutive games
(1) 1939, August 20 (1,2) — 0-for-4 in each game
(2) 1940, July 13 (2), July 14 (1) — 0-for-4 and 0-for-5
(3) 1949, June 2, 3 — 0-for-4 in each game
(4) 1950, September 27 (1,2) — 0-for-4 and 0-for-5
(5) 1954, September 15, 17 — 0-for-4 in each game
(6) 1958, June 19, 20 — 0-for-4 in each game
(7) 1960, July 16, 18 — 0-for-4 in each game

[B] Considering pinch hitting assignments, Williams’ longest streaks of not
getting on base safely were 5 and 4 games —

5 consecutive games
(1) 1956, April 25, 27, 28, May 1, 2 — 0-for-1 in each game

4 consecutive games
(1) 1953, August 10, 11, 13, 15 (1) — 0-for-1 in each game
