Tenney: The Globe nine of 1889, a Christmas treat

While most frontier towns in Arizona had base ball clubs by 1890, the mining town of Globe came early in the base ball evolution happening in the Arizona Territories during the 19th Century. Globe was an important mining camp for Copper, Silver and Gold. While many brave and hardy souls flocked to the town in search of fame, fortune and prosperity – their interest in baseball proved to be as intense and loyal of a following as any other burgh in early Arizona. Globe was important, as the town would have one of the first local leagues as interest in base ball ran high.  Enough to form a few clubs from town and the mining companies. 

Below is a photo from an early club in Globe, around 1889 or 1890 with the style of gloves in the pictures as clues to the date range of the photo. Could be later than this date.
