In 2013, my friend Paul Golba and I took our first driving tour of major league ballparks, taking in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Baltimore (with a minor league appetizer in Asheville, North Carolina thrown in for good measure). I wrote up the experience for The Hardball Times, giving it the grand name of, well, the Grand Tour.
We’ve done the same thing each year since then, covering every big-league stadium east of the Rockies except two. I’ve avoided the two Florida franchises so far despite their being relatively nearby to Asheville. Tropicana Field just seems too depressing, and Marlins Park might strike me blind with that…thing in center field.
