Warsinskey: 93 years later, Cleveland awaits its turn at baseball history

Good for Boston.
“Maybe it’s our time now,” Dave Cubero, a construction manager at League Park, said Thursday as a massive restoration project continued.
The Red Sox hadn’t won a World Series at home since 1918. Guess who hasn’t won a World Series at home since 1920?
Yet another Cleveland distinction of destitute-ness. How depressing.
The Indians have won two World Series, in 1920 and 1948. Only the 1920 Series against the Brooklyn Robins ended in front of Cleveland fans at the corner of East 66th and Lexington, in what then was called Dunn Field, and now is a shell of League Park.
In 1948, Cleveland clinched the title against the Boston Braves in Games 6 at Braves Field. That opponent eventually wound up in Georgia, and those Atlanta Braves got some revenge, beating the Indians in the 1995 World Series, also in six games.
The Indians, of course, lost the 1997 World Series to the Florida Marlins, blowing a ninth-inning lead in Game 7 in Miami. That still-painful event has absolutely nothing to do with this story, and the less said about it, the better.
It could be worse.
