Watch SABR Panel Discussion at MLB All-Star FanFest
SABR members Roland Hemond, Rodney Johnson and John Thorn, along with SABR President Vince Gennaro and Executive Director Marc Appleman, participated in panel discussions with MLB.com’s Cory Schwartz on Monday and Tuesday at the MLB All-Star FanFest in Phoenix, Arizona.
They discussed a variety of topics, including the history of the All-Star Game and baseball in Arizona, and answered many questions from the FanFest audience.

Hemond, this year’s recipient of the Baseball Hall of Fame’s Buck O’Neil Lifetime Achievement Award, and Thorn, named this spring as MLB’s Official Historian, both participated last week in a SABR 41 panel covering the four decades of the SABR Era, 1971 to 2011.
Johnson is an official scorer with the Arizona Diamondbacks and president of SABR’s Flame Delhi Chapter. He authored an article in the 82nd MLB All-Star Game program about the history of baseball in Arizona.
