Henry Aaron Batting Against Bob Friend at Milwaukee County Stadium

Description

A slide of a black-and-white photograph of game action between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Milwaukee Braves at Milwaukee County Stadium on June 17, 1957. The photograph is from behind home plate, looking out toward centerfield. Henry Aaron is batting against pitcher Bob Friend and is in mid-swing. Catcher Dick Rand, home plate umpire Shag Crawford, and second base umpire Lee Ballanfant are visible. Also visible at the far left of the image is centerfielder bill Virdon in front of and to the left of the 402 sign. In the far background are standing players, likely part of the bullpen. Woods are visible in center field. These woods were replaced by bleachers in 1961. But research indicates that the chain link fence seen was replaced by a padded fence in 1960. See aaronha01_67.
