Ty Cobb 1939 Centennial Stamp
Description
A color slide of a photograph of a 1939 Centennial Stamp of Ty Cobb. The stamp was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the game of baseball. The picture is a portrait of Cobb. He is wearing a dark blue Detroit Tigers ballcap and looking off into the distance to his left. There is a yellow border around his portrait with a rounded oval top. The words at the bottom of the border read: "TYRUS RAYMOND COBB" There is another light blue frame that looks like a matting on a framed picture. The number "15" is in the upper right corner. Finally, there is one last yellow border with the words "1839 CENTENIAL [sic] of BASEBALL 1939" written on the top and the words "COMMEMORATIVE POSTER STAMPS" written on the bottom. The stamp itself measures 1 5/8" x 2 1/8"
