Wall Calendar with Illustration of Lou Gehrig 1951

Description

A color slide of a 1951 wall calendar. The top of the wall calendar is illustrated with a child playing first base and New York Yankee Lou Gehrig looking down from heaven in the background. The child in the illustration has his left foot on a base and is leaning to his right with his right gloved hand outstretched. The blond-haired child is wearing a red cap, a baseball uniform. Behind the drawing of the boy is a faded portrait of Lou Gehrig portrayed from the waist up with his hands joined in front of him against a blue sky. The bottom half of the calendar shows a sheet for January 1951. The calendar advertises Brainard-Ahrens, Inc. General Insurance in Connecticut. The illustration is titled "Atta Boy", and a poem is below the title that can't be read. On the bottom right of the calendar is a small biography that reads, "Lou" Gehrig Piched as first baseman on the Baseball Writers' All-time All Star Team, "Lou" Gehrig played for 17 years, was in 2,130 consecutive games, had a lifetime batting average of .340.
