A 1978 1948 Bowman reprint baseball card of Augie Galan. The back of card number 39 in the set reads, "39 - Augie Galan Outfield - Cincinnati Reds Born : Berkeley, Calif. May 25, 1912 Bats : Right Throws : Right Height : 5 : 11 1/2 Weight : 165 A great team man. During a career which began in Organized Baseball in 1931, Augie has played every infield position as well as the outfield. Joined major leagues in 1934 with Chicago Cubs and stayed with them until 1941 when he was traded to the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was traded to the Reds for the 1947 season. In 1935, with the Cubs, he established a major league record for playing 1954 games without hitting into a double play. He led National League in walks in 1943 with 103 and in 1944 with 101.
