A 1978 1948 Bowman reprint baseball card of Johnny Wyrostek. The back of card number 44 in the set reads, "44 - Johnny Wyrostek Outfielder - Cincinnati Reds Born : Fairmont, Ill. July 12, 1919 Bats : Left Throws : Right Height : 6 : 2 Weight : 180 Johnny became a regular major league ballplayer in 1946. Before that he had spent eight active seasons with eight ball clubs. His first major trial was with Pittsburgh in 1942. He finished the season with Toronto. The next year he was back with the Pirates, but was traded to Columbus. He was on the St. Louis Cardinals roster in 1945, but spent the time in service. Then 1946 and regular duty with the Philadelphia Phils, to whom he had been sold by the Cards.
