A 1978 1948 Bowman reprint baseball card of Sid Gordon. The back of card number 27 in the set reads, "27 - Sid Gordon Left Fielder - N. Y. Giants Born : Brooklyn, N. Y. Aug. 13, 1918 Bats : Right Throws : Right Height : 5 : 10 Weight : 180 Sid is really a product of New York "sand lots" where he was first observed by a Giant scout, playing amateur ball in Brooklyn. Four years in the minors brought him to the Polo Grounds. His 1st year in organized baseball saw him hit .352. He served two years in the Coast Guard during the war.
