Description

A 1978 1948 Bowman reprint baseball card of Bill Bevens. The back of card number 22 in the set reads, "22 - Floyd (Bill) Bevins [sic] Pitchers - New York Yankees Born : Hubbard, Ore. Oct. 20, 1917 Bats : Right Throws : Right Height : 6 : 03 1/2 Weight : 210 "Bill" will always be remembered as the pitcher who, in 1947, almost made the Hall of Fame by pitching a no-hit World Series game up until the last half of the ninth. This was the fourth game with the Dodgers. Hard luck has pursued him. His arm went "dead" just as he started his career, and just after he was ordered to the Yanks from Syracuse, he displaced three ribs in one mighty pitch.
