A 1986 Card Collectors 1951 Bowman Reprint baseball card of Gene Bearden. The back of card number 284 in the set reads, "Gene Bearden Pitcher - Detroit Tigers Born: Lexa, Ark., Sept. 5, 1920 Height: 6-3 1/2 Weight: 204 Bats: Left Throws: Left Acquired by Detroit in April, 1951. Began the 1950 season with Cleveland. Traded to Washington during the campaign. In 26 games in all with 4 wins, 8 losses. One of the wins knocked the Red Sox from pennant race. Two seasons before, Gene's 20th win (20-7 for the season) clinched the pennant for Cleveland. During the war, Gene was badly wounded in torpedoing of the "Helena."
