A 1978 1948 Bowman reprint baseball card of Emil Verban. The back of card number 28 in the set reads, "28 - Emil Verban (The Antelope) Second Base - Philadelphia Phillies Born : Lincoln, Ill. Aug. 27, 1915 Bats : Right Throws : Right Height : 5 : 11 Weight : 165 His graceful play at 2nd has won him his nickname. Coming up the hard way and a long way, Emil has played for eight years in the minors and with eight different teams. His second year in the majors found him leading the league's 2nd basemen in fielding. After starting the 1946 season with the Cards, he was traded to the Phillies May 1st.
