The back of card number 172 in the set reads "Ned Garver Pitcher--St. Louis Browns Born: Ney, Ohio, Dec. 25, 1925 Height: 5-10 Weight: 175 Bats: Right Throws: Right Though Ned's win-lose record was 13-18 last year, he hung up the second lowest earned run average in the League (3.39). Tied for most complete games with 22. Ned is also a good hitter. In a few games in 1950 he was spotted in the 7th slot of the St. Louis batting order. Entered organized baseball with Newark, Ohio State League, in 1944. The Browns bought his contract in the fall of 1947. No. 172 in the 1951 series Baseball Picture Cards Reprint 1986 C.C.C."
