Mickey Mantle 1956 Baseball Stars Magazine Cover
Description
A color slide of the cover of the 1956 Dell Baseball Stars magazine featuring two images of Mickey Mantle. The main image of Mantle shows him leaning forward with his crossed arms resting on his raised left knee. He has a glove with a ball in it on his left hand. He is wearing a New York Yankees road uniform. The American League Golden Anniversary patch on his left sleeve indicates that the image is from 1951. In the background on the lower section of the cover to the left of the photo is an illustration of him following through in the left-handed batter's box with the third base dugout and fans in a section of stands behind him. The illustration goes to the right of the image with fans down the left field side in front of a tall chain link fence. The top part of the background is white. A blue strip goes across the top of the cover, and inside the stripe in yellow letters is the text "exclusive: CAMPY SPILLS HIS TRADE SECRETS! page 50." Right underneath that and at the top of the white background is the title in red letters across the page: "baseball stars". Just underneath the title on the left edge of the cover in small black letters is the text "Dell No. 7 25¢". At that same level to the right of Mantle's head is a slanted yellow rectangle touching the bottom of the title, and inside is "1956" in black letters. To the left of the photo and above the illustration is text in black letters that reads "why it's NOW OR NEVER for Mickey Mantle page 12." Starting at the lower left corner of the cover and angling slightly up across the page is a yellow stripe.
