Mickey Mantle Baseball’s King Magazine Cover
Description
A color slide of the magazine cover for Baseball's King Mickey Mantle. The main background image is a head-and-shoulders portrait of Mickey Mantle smiling and wearing a New York Yankees cap. There is a smaller color, full-length, superimposed photograph of Mantle on the bottom left of the cover. He is in a right-handed batting stance and wearing a Yankee home uniform. His body is facing the camera as he looks over his left shoulder. Also superimposed (in front of the main background photograph and behind the batting stance photograph) is a series of four waist-up color photographs of Mantle swinging right-handed. Mantle is wearing a Yankee home uniform in each of the serial photographs. In the first, he has the baseball bat gripped with two hands and extended forward. In the second, he stands with the bat cocked. In the third, he again has his bat extended forward; in the fourth, he has followed through, and the bat extends behind him. Along the top of the magazine, there is text that reads, "THRILLING NEW PHOTOS – INTIMATE CLOSE UPS MICKEY MANTLE BASEBALL'S KING". There is more text on the left side of the cover, reading "EXCLUSIVE! CAN MANTLE BUST BABE RUTH'S 60? Yes by TED WILLIAMS No by BOB FELLER". Information written on the physical slide reads: "Mickey Mantle Baseball's King (1957) Magazine Cover"
