The cover illustration based on a photograph from a September 6, 1948 game at Ebbets Field shows Robinson sliding into a base toward the left of the frame, with Boston Braves first baseman Frank McCormick behind him. Robinson wears a road Brooklyn Dodgers uniform with a "B' on the cap. McCormick is wearing a Boston Braves uniform. In the bottom left of the cover is an image of Robinson's face surrounded by a circle.
