The Ebbets Field scoreboard is in the background to Robinson's right. The photograph is from Robinson's first game in the Major Leagues, April 15, 1947. The caption under the photograph reads, "Learning to play first base and trying to break into the Big Leagues at the same time was probably the biggest problem of my career. I had never before, even in good games, played first base. I never thought I'd be successful."
