A color slide of a photograph of Jackie Robinson sliding into third base from an article in Sport Magazine November 1956. The play occurred in Game 3 of the 1955 World Series when Robinson advanced to third after a double in the bottom of the 7th inning when Elston Howard threw behind Robinson to second base on the play. Robinson has just reached third, with his right leg on the base and his left leg extended. New York Yankees Third baseman Gil McDougald is standing on the foul side of third. Lee Ballafant, the umpire, is facing third base, straddling the foul line on the outfield side of third base.
