Henry Aaron Singles Against St. Louis Cardinals 1959

Description

A slide of a black-and-white photograph taken August 2, 1959, of Milwaukee Braves' Henry Aaron batting during the second game of a doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee County Stadium. The photograph is from the first base side of the field. It shows the moment of Aaron's baseball bat meeting a ball tossed by Cardinals' pitcher Vinegar Bend Mizell, who is not visible. Hal Smith is the St. Louis catcher in the photo. The at-bat result was a single to center field for one of the 223 hits Aaron recorded that season. Home plate umpire Bill Jackowski is barely visible to the far left of the image. The Cardinals' dugout and fans behind the dugout are visible. See aaronha01_02, and aaronha01_129.
