Mickey Mantle on Cover of 1957 Issue of Sports Review Baseball

Description

A color slide of the cover of the 1957 issue of Sports Review Baseball featuring Mickey Mantle. Mantle is shown from the shins up, standing on the first base side of the field in front of the dugout at Yankees Stadium. He is standing sideways with his right hand on his hip and holding a bat on his shoulder with his left hand. He is looking into the first base stands so that we see three-quarters of his face. He is wearing a New York Yankees home uniform. In the background, we see Hank Bauer, left of Mantle, walking to the batting cage in the home plate area. We see the back of Bauer's uniform with the number 9 visible. There are players behind the batting cage on the left of the picture. The rest of the background is the third base side of the Stadium's lower and upper decks, with a few scattered people in the stands. In the upper left-hand corner of the cover in white letters is the text "SPORTS REVIEW". Below that, in large red letters spanning the cover's width, is "BASEBALL". Just below that, to the right of the page in white letters, is "1957 ISSUE 50¢". In the lower left-hand part of the cover are four coverlines in white letters, each one with a star centered above and below it (so five stars in all): "YANKEES FOREVER", "THE STAR WITH A LATE TWINKLE", "STAN MUSIAL BASEBALL'S QUIET MAN", and "CAN LARSEN BEAT THE PERFECT GAME JINX?" In the lower right-hand corner are three more coverlines in white letters: "COMPLETE RECORDS", "OFFICIAL SCHEDULES", and "ACTION PHOTOS".
