Babe Ruth Crosses Home Plate

Description

A slide of a black-and-white action photo of Babe Ruth scoring after hitting a home run in a game for the Boston Braves in 1935. Ruth wears a Braves uniform and hat and faces the camera, his body turned slightly to the right as he jogs toward home plate. His right leg is extended and his foot is about to the plate, and he pushes off with his left leg and foot. An unidentified catcher looks on from the right, his head bowed. On the left, an unidentified Boston teammate, standing in profile, watches. To the far right, part of the profile of the home plate umpire can be seen. In the center background, an unidentified umpire and an unknown coach can be seen, the coach partially obscured by Ruth. Parts of the stadium, including signs on the wall, can be seen in the background, and there are some fans in the stands along the left field line and in the outfield.
